VISION STATEMENT OF FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH
We, the people of First Lutheran Church will "Put Christ First" in all that we do. We will
- strive to grow as individuals and as a congregation through constant prayer-seeking God's will.
- offer ourselves in joyful service to God and to the world which God loves reaching out in love as a cheerful response to God's grace.
- tell the story of God's redeeming love through Jesus Christ--spreading the "good news" by what we say and do.
Milton Scott holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Millikin University and a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from Illinois State University. He began working at First Lutheran in 1967. Milt is the founder of the FLC Bell Choir and creator of the Informal Worship Service where he is vocal leader and keyboardist. He conducts the Adult Choir and oversees the music ministry and all worship events.
Rick moved to Decatur in 1989 from
Indiana. He is a graduate of Purdue University. He joined First Lutheran Church in 1989 and began singing with the choir and shortly thereafter began working with the children's
choir. He has sung
with the Greater Decatur Chorale for 20+ years and with OPUS 24 for nearly 10 years. Before becoming the organist at FLC he was the organist at St.
Patrick's Catholic Church for 10 years and pianist at South Shores United Methodist church for 20 years. He also currently directs the handbell choir at FLC. He plays the piano at Von Maur department store in Forsyth and teachs Spanish at St. Teresa High School.
