Our Vision
We, the people of First Lutheran Church will "Put Christ First" in all that we do. We will:
* strive to grow as individuals and as a congregation through constants prayer--seeking God's will
* offer ourselves in joyful service to God and to the world which God loves--reaching out in love as a cheerful response to God's grace.
* tell the story of God's redeeming love through Jesus Christ--spreading the "good news" by what we say and do.
Our Values
SCRIPTURE as our guide to faithful living. The gospel is the living power of God for salvation in Jesus Christ. It leads us to share God's unconditional love, forgiveness, and promise of eternal life with others.
GRACE - We function in an atmosphere of God's grace and healing rather than judgment and condemnation. Gods acceptance leads us to an appreciation and a mutual acceptance of one another.
WORSHIP that is Spirit-filled, fresh, and relevant; respecting the rich liturgical tradition of the Lutheran church.
PEOPLE as beloved children of God. We share a spiritual journey building relationships and strengthening our commitment to people and our faith.
TRUST - Because we trust in God, we trust each other and recognize each others God-given spiritual gifts.
PERSONAL SPIRITUAL GROWTH through regular worship, daily prayer, devotions, and Bible reading.
ACTIVE FAITH - because we belong to God, we live out our faith in ministry in the church and our daily lives.
OUTREACH that serves the physical and spiritual needs of people both within and beyond our membership.
DOWNTOWN LOCATION and our historic engagement with the neighborhood. We pledge to continue in ministry to those just beyond our doors.
CREATIVITY in our actions that takes us outside of our comfort zones, realizing that sometimes Gods Spirit leads us in new and unexpected directions.
