Sunday School
Sunday School is currently offered from mid-September until Memorial Day weekend for first grade students through adult classes. Classes meet on Sunday mornings from 9:40 a.m. until 10:20 p.m. with an additional adult, pastor-led, opportunity for Bible study on Monday mornings. The children’s classes are currently using the Spark™ program developed by Augsburg-Fortress.
Confirmation
Confirmation instruction for 7th and 8th grade students is also held during Sunday School and incorporates Here We Stand, a well-known Confirmation text, to support the students’ understanding of their Christian faith in the context of our Lutheran heritage.
High School
High school students are currently involved in a multi-year, multi-media project which is examining and capturing the stories of faith found at First Lutheran and then discovering more about the faith traditions of others in our community.
Adult Sunday School
The Sunday morning adult class is using a series entitled No Experience Necessary. This series is designed to encourage everyone – from the Biblical scholar to the new Christian who has never been involved in Bible study – to focus on the purpose of our lives together as we participate in God’s mission in the world.
Summer Bible School
Additional opportunities for children include a summer Bible school program which is a community collaboration with First United Methodist Church and First Presbyterian Church. This year the theme is “Shake It Up Café,” and the dates are July 11-15 from 9:00 a.m. - noon. Our friends at First United Methodist have also invited our children to participate in their annual Music Camp which will be held from June 13-17, 1:00-3:00 p.m. and June 20-24 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Splash Kingdom – A Lifesaving Musical for Kids, along with “Shake It Up Café”, are both wonderful opportunities for our youngsters to grow in their understanding of what it means to live their lives as members of the greater Christian community.
